What Is a System?

A System is a logical grouping of elements. Examples:

North PastureAll water infrastructure serving the north pasture
Main DistributionPrimary pump station and distribution network
Backup WellsSecondary water sources for drought conditions
Irrigation LoopCrop irrigation equipment

Creating a System

  1. Go to the Systems tab
  2. Tap + in the navigation bar
  3. Enter a name (required)
  4. Enter an optional description
  5. Tap Save

The system is created immediately and appears in the list.

Tap a system to view its contents:

  • System name
  • Description (if provided)
  • Element count

Element Assignment

Elements can belong to one system at a time (or no system):

From System Detail

  1. Open the system
  2. Tap Add Equipment
  3. Select from unassigned elements

From Element Detail

  1. Open any element
  2. Tap the System card
  3. Pick a system from the list

Unassigning

Set an element's system to "None" to unassign it. It will appear in the "unassigned" pool when adding equipment to systems.

Map Visualization

The Map view shows all elements with GPS coordinates:

  • Each element appears as a pin with its type icon
  • Tap a pin to see the element name
  • Tap again to navigate to element detail
  • Elements without coordinates (0,0) are excluded

See Map Visualization for more details.

Tips

Naming Conventions

Use consistent naming for easier navigation:

  • Geographic: "North Pasture", "South Ridge"
  • Functional: "Main Supply", "Backup Reserve"
  • Zone-based: "Zone A", "Zone B"

System Scope

Keep systems focused:

  • A system should represent a logical unit
  • Too many elements in one system makes the map crowded
  • Consider splitting large systems by sub-area

Next Steps

Once you've organized your systems:

  • View your infrastructure on the Map
  • Configure sync and account in Settings
  • Explore User Stories for complete workflows

Point. Snap. Confirm.
