Equipment Suggestions

Waterworks includes a small experimental Core ML model that suggests one of six equipment types: well, tank, trough, valve, pump, or junction.

The suggestion is a shortcut, not a decision. Always compare it with the equipment in front of you. If the model cannot make a suggestion, Waterworks requires you to choose a type before saving.

Confirmation flow

After a photo is captured, the confirmation screen shows:

• the photo;
• the suggested type, when available;
• a confidence percentage;
• a type picker;
• an editable name;
• an optional water system.

Tap the type picker whenever the suggestion is wrong. A high confidence percentage is not proof that the type is correct.

Privacy and connectivity

Classification runs on the iPhone with Core ML and does not require a network connection. During the local pilot, photos and records are not uploaded to the Waterworks service.

Better field evidence

• Center one piece of equipment in the frame.
• Include the whole object when possible.
• Avoid severe backlight and deep shadow.
• Record wrong or missing suggestions in Settings → Send Feedback.

The pilot does not automatically retrain the model from corrections. Model changes require a reviewed training set and a new app build.
